They will be talking to some of the youngest members of the audience of last Sunday’s Wycombe Sinfonia Family Concert and to Mayor Nathan Thomas and Orchestra President and Dr Who actor Colin Baker.

On this week’s show listen out for:

Charles Gounod’s beautiful but relatively unknown Petite Symphonie
Bach’s Air on a G String which was premiered in 1830 at Café Zimmerman in Leipzig

Three pieces from German composer Louis Spohr.
He is known for inventing the violinist's chinstrap and for introducing conductor's marks on music scores to improve identification of what to practise in rehearsal. Spohr learnt composition by studying Mozart's work and toured Italy with Niccolo Paganini.

The first movement of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 4 Italian; he was brought up in a warm, artistic and intellectual home and was inspired to compose following his extensive travels.

Austrian Franz Schubert’s Fifth Symphony was written when he was 19 the year in which he started, but didn’t finish, a law degree.

As usual, they will be sharing details of local live music plus an opportunity to join a choir to sing at St Albans Cathedral.
